The launch of the Men in Sheds Alliance (Humber area)

The launch of the Men in Sheds Alliance (Humber area) took place on Thursday 28th November 2019 at Woodmansey Garden Centre, home of Beverley Men in Sheds.


The event incorporated the official opening of Beverley Men in Sheds  by land owner, John Loss, attended by the Chairperson of East Riding Council.

The Alliance of Men in Sheds was officially launched by Cllr Jonathan Owen, Chair of East Riding Health & Wellbeing Board, and Kate Gordon, National UK Men’s Sheds Association Development Manager.

The event brought together Shedders from Hull, Goole, Beverley, Hornsea, Bridlington, Scunthorpe, Winterton, Western Wolds, and representatives from the Haltemprice area, along with organisation representatives from Humberside Police & Crime Commissioners office, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, Humber Nature Partnership, Citizens Advice Bureau, Anlaby Parish Council, Adult Community Learning (East Riding), Beverley Community Lift, Victim Support, Groundworks, Smile Foundation, Healthwatch (Hull), Activities Communities Team (North Lincs Council), Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Sports, Play & Arts Team (East Riding), Public Health (East Riding). Partner organisations presented their offer to Shed members and were asked to provide details of their offer to form a resource for Sheds.

The event was also supported by funders including Tescos and the National Lottery Community Fund and covered on the day by BBC Radio Humberside, Beverley FM and Beverley Life Magazine.  Smile Foundation photographed and filmed the event.
