Hornsea Shed shares its space during lockdown

1st November 2020

Hornsea Shed have been able to provide suitable working space for a team called “For the Love of Scrubs”.

They are volunteers who use The Shed as a hub for the collection and delivery of all types of PPE’s that are made by volunteers in their own homes.

Some of the Trustees of The Shed have been involved in the collection and delivery around East Yorkshire.

Some activity has also been possible in The Shed, mainly undertaken by Alan, the Chairman of the Trustees, who, living locally has “volunteered” to open up for the Scrubs team and he has been putting his time there to very good use.

Security panels at the side of The Shed have been removed and now have grills fitted to the windows, which allows more natural light into the room.  In addition, a large proportion of the gifted ‘stock’ that was acquired via donations has been sorted and given more permanent homes.

The Shed has also been in discussions with East Yorkshire Food Bank with a view to providing a place for people who have been issued with food vouchers can collect their food boxes/bags.  This is in its early stages but seems likely be become a reality.

The boat in the pictures below was started before the lockdown and has slowly moved towards being ready to return to Hornsea Inshore Rescue to be sited somewhere along the seafront for kids to play in.
